Been a while

So I have been really slacking this summer. But we are already into fall and well still very busy. We are about a month into pre-school which Jack absolutely loves. I am actually volunteering in the library there on fridays too. Jack comes home with the greatest projects and I just want to save all of them. Yesterday and today he did come home with an accident report though. bumped head both times. today he got quite the goose egg below his eye. His first shiner! Couldn't believe it. Also I have been working on quilt for Jack. it is coming together great. Thank goodness my mom is an expert quilter. post pics later.

Now I know I have not been very good with the updates the last couple of months. We have been very busy. My sister Erin got married Memorial Day weekend so needless to say we have had very little spare time. I need to post some picture but am having trouble today with that. Also Jack has just been becoming such a big boy. For one he is 100% potty trained. I can't begin to tell you how happy I am about this!!! He really just skipped over the pull ups too. We are so proud of him. Jack is also sleeping in a big boy bed, he does end up on the floor every now and then but so far so good. We tried to get him some new bedding for his new bed but he insisted that THOSE were not his blankets and that I should bring them back to the store. He is a man that knows what he wants. Jack has also got his first bike with training wheels of course. Teaching how ride a bike is a lot harder that I thought it would be, learning how to petal and look where you are going at the same time..very hard. It reminds me of trying to teach Jack how to pump on the swings at the playground..still a work in progress. And last but not least we have a open house at jack's preschool this upcoming week. Jack is going to be starting preschool. I can't believe how big he is getting. It truly does feel like yesterday I was cat napping on and off with a new baby at home and now he is a big boy. I will post with pictures soon.

Right there on Jack's forehead...is...that's right...another bump. This kids is just too crazy. This is the second time in two weeks that we have had to 1) ice down a forehead. 2) get read the rights of the concussion by the SAME nurse. 3) wake him up every 3 hours through the night. So if anyone has any question about a concussion and you pediatric nurse is busy, just call me because I have them memorized!!!!!!!

Finally it is over and I can breathe again! No more sneaking around and lying. My sister Erin's bridal shower was on saturday! We put so much effort into keeping this a surprise for her, not to mention the effort we put onto MAKING the favors! See how much we love her! Erin was excited and was totally surprised! She couldn't believe that we tricked her so good! Now we can actually make eye contact when speaking. Erin got everything she could possibly need and more. We had so much fun putting away her old dishes and putting the new things away! Ah, next up the wedding in May!

The Box

It's amazing how much fun my son can have with a box. This box has transformed from from a car, to a bed, to a train, a house, a kitchen, a rocket, you name and he has done it. I am so lucky to have such a creative little person around. In other news, today he had a doctors appointment and he did awesome with the finger stick. I personally thought the finger stick was worst than a shot!

MORE snow

Just when I thought we could pack the shovels and snow boots away, we get dumped on again. I really thought we were headed for spring jackets and snow-free playgrounds. What happened? Well jack is one person who is very happy with the snow. He would play in the snow for days if I let him, insisting that he isn't cold. While I was shoveling the walkway, Jack would just drop anywhere and make snow angels. Including a perfect one right across our walkway! How could I continue shoveling then? I couldn't shovel the snow angel? We also went on to making a snowball mountain that he was so excited about. I guess we will continue to play in the snow, no complaints here!

New hair

SO i got a new haircut. I really like it....the way it was when I left the salon. The toughest part in my book about a new haircut is figuring it out. the first blow dry for example: trying to get it to look the way it did when SHE did it! After a week and some odd days I think I finally figured it out! Yay! I like my hair again!

Jenga

In the past two weeks I have gotten the flu and a bad cold(which I am home from work today with). Since I have been stuck on the couch with a pillow and blanket, Jack has gone from building towers and fences with our Jenga blocks to actually playing the game. It's true. In an attempt to try and do something adult like while being stuck at home, watching nothing but scooby doo and Tom and Jerry, I decided to stack the jenga blocks teach him how to play. I was so surprised that Jack actually wanted play. I was even more surprised that he was actually pretty good at this game and how swiftly he pulled out each piece. Further proof that this child is mine!

Wall-e

Another first for jack on Saturday. My friend Meredith had e-mailed us about and event that was going on saturday and we decided to jump on the bandwagon. The even was the movie Wall-e at the Cameo, popcorn and a drink, all we had to do was bring some can good to help donate to the local food pantry. We thought this would be a great opportunity to see if Jack was ready for a movie. we decided we really wouldn't feel too bad if we had to leave, but he did awesome. I could not believe my busy little boy actually sat for the length of a whole movie. it was so fun. jack even got the full movie theater effect by eating gummy worms, which was the highlight of the whole expierience.

The picture of the motley crew above was taken from my Nana's 80th birthday party. Sure everyone is looking in different directions and it may be a little lopsided but that is our family. Everyone seems to keep up with 2 or 3 conversations while trying to slow down a little one zooming by. It was so good to see everyone including some of my cousins that I haven't seen in quite literally years. The great thing about seeing these cousins that I haven't seen in what has been too long, is that we seem to be able to pick right up where we left off. Ans may I say that my Nana and Papa both looked absolutely pleased to have everyone(we were missing a few) in one spot.

As we all know Jack's birthday is right before Christmas, which leaves us to have many a birthday parties in a snow storm. Jacks birthday party this year was just that. We had a great storm the night before and just praying that people would be able to get out of their driveways and scoot into out snow covered drives. As me and Jack were getting ready for the party (Jack's part was to nap, mine was to do everything else) poor Steve was shoveling for hours, quite literally so everyone would have a place to park. I was so surprised at the number of people who braved the weather to watch Jack open all of those presents, have some laughs and some cake, which was a beautiful spiderman cake made by none other than my mom. Can't wait until next years!

Our Tree

What a pretty tree. Jack is so amazed by it. We actually didn't decorate the treefro days because it just looks so pretty with just white lights. A decorated tree picture will follow but I have to take a pic while Jack is sleeping. All the ornaments end up on the tree skirt with the millions of pine needle that fall. One of my favorite parts of the season is pulling out all of those special ornaments, each with a certain memory. Each one of them making are tree look even more beautiful.

Trick or Treat

Every year for Halloween, Steve's dad fires up the old trailor hitch on the back of a tractor and for a hayride to take the kids trick or treating. Complete with a cooler. The kids loved the ride. Jack didn't want to miss one chug of the hayride. He finally got the trick or treat down this year too!!!

On Halloween Day, before all the racing around, we visited Nana Harris in costume. She was very happy to have a little visit from Cowboy Jack and Arianna the witch. Their they are, babies in hand for a visit with Nana. Isn't she cute!

Pumpkin carving

It has been a tradition for years to get together the Elliott's, the White's, Harris's and now Lights to come together to carve some great pumpkins. This also includes some great food and movies too. We all look forward to this tradition every year with famous pose with your pumpkin photo shoot at the end. This year Jack did a Mr. Potato/ pumpkin head. Awesome pumpkins guys! Little Hair

This picture was taken before Jack decided how he really felt about his new haircut. He has since decided that he does not like his "little hair" and wants his "big hair" back. Now I have always done what I like to call a self taught yoga. I would follow an old book that an old friend had given me from a library sale years ago. Well about a month ago or maybe more I started Power Yoga. I LOVE IT! In fact that may be an understatement. Every thursday me and Mary can't wait for the day to end so we can get to power yoga. Now let me just explain for those of you who aren't familiar with this form of yoga, it is actually a hot yoga or done in a heated studio. The studio is probably the best place for yoga, so tranquille. You can really quiet the mind and fully engage in Shivasna. That class really blows my self taught yoga out of the water. Namaste.

North River

Well since we have been having such wonderful fall weather, we have decided to really take advanage of the beautiful scenery that comes with the season. One of our favorite spots is of course the North River Reservation. We have been trying to get a good nature walk in at least 3 times a week and this spot seems so much closer then some of our over favs. These pictures were from a fun day we spent with Arianna and Joan. Also these two get along so great together, we really should make the effort to do that more often!

Air Show

A few weeks ago we traveled to Steve's base for the Westover Air show. The drive there it had been pouring, we just hoped that the day would clear up for the show. Luckily it did. The show was great. We got to walk though a few planes. We saw some planes do these awesome tricks. We also saw a wing walker. I think she must have been crazy to walk on the wing on a plane so high up nevermind be out there for the loops. Overall we had a couple of awesome days catching up with Steve nd his airforce buddies. Jack actually slept through the thunderbirds. That is what you call a great sleeper!!!

San Antonio

Not long ago, Steve was able to re-visit Lackland Airforce Base down in San Antonio. We headed down with to see Steve's brother Tony graduate from basic traing. We went wih Mary, Tony's girlfriend and Aunt Dineen, while Jack stayed at Nina's house. I knew Steve was looking forward to going back to the base since the last time he was there was during his own graduation that was two years ago. We had such a great time. The graduation was great! Everyone did such a good job. Tony looked so happy to see Mary and Mary was SO excited to see him! I reminded me of being so excited waiting to see Steve two years ago. Also San Antonio is the prettiest part of Texas. The riverwalk area down town is so amazing. We took a riveboat cruise and learned all about the area which was so interesting. I think I would like to live there! A quick side note- On the way home I professed my love of Steve to the guy boarding us on the flight in Memphis!

Camping

I know it has been a while since we update the old blog here, but we just been so busy. We did manage to squeeze in a camping trip. We actually went with Steve on one of his weekends on base. Westover AFB actually has a pretty nice camping area. We roasted marshmallows, did a little grilling and everything else that comes with camping. The only snag in our plan was the torrential down pours and severe thunder and lightening, which by the way cause the alarms to go off on base. SO fun. Jack slept through it. Not so bad. We did also have a ground hog that lived on the camp site, which we had to distract from him because if we didn't he would have smeared with sunscreen (not kidding). Only complaint: Where the bathrooms were located! Made for a shower fiasco, but that is a story for another time!!

Castle Island

The Fourth!

Actually this was the fifth. For the fourth we actually just hung around down in humarock at Pete's. We all had a blast. For the Fifth we went to the hingham fireworks. We parked, what felt like 18 miles up 3A, walked down to the harbor and found a spot in the sea of people , all there to see the fireworks. Turns out they were awesome. Even the walks to and from weren't that bad. Not with a comical Daddy crashing into things the whole way back. Jack was in hysterics! By the way, where were all the lights on 3A. It was SO dark walking back to the car!

Jake the Super Hero

Here we are, enjoying ourselves at my grandparents house down the cape. We had a great day! Jack and Jake had fun playing in the sand and walking up and down the dock. Well, my curious boy of course tried to climb onto my grandfathers boat by himself and it didn't work out so well. He held on to the edge of the boat and when the boat moved away a bit, Jack fell in the water. Luckily Jake was there to save the day! He just swooped in and pickedd him up! Jack escape without a scratch. Jake got a little battle wound. Thanks Jake! You are Jack's Super Hero!!! Way to start of the weekend. On saturday, we went to Home Depot and Jack tried to sit in one of the outdoor patio chairs and slid to the back of the chair and got a bloody nose!! He is all boy!

Last weekend we got all dressed up to go to Pete's wedding! We never thought the day would come but we were there to witness it! The next day they had a killer BBQ too! Way to go Pete! We won't mention that at the BBQ, we went down to the beach, and Pete lost his wedding ring, less than 24 hours later!!!!!! Oops!

The Beach

This year me and Steve took a vow that this summer we would spend a little more time at the beach. We love the beach! Jack loves the beach(unless a big wave knocks him over and he sucks down a ton of salt water)! Last weekend me Jack and my sister Erin hit the beach. To our surprise the beach wasn't even jam packed like I always remember it being. Jack cooked up some sand and rock recipes for us, while me and Erin just sat back and relaxed. Warning: the water is still freezing!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that I am home on friday or at least most fridays, I try and get together with my cousin Joan and her beautiful daughter Arianna. Everytime we get together we always say we should do this more often, well now I think I am going to make an effort. Jack had such a great time. It is always fun to play with somebody elses toys!!!!

Last weekend with the weather so great, we decided to take a drive down to the Roger Williams Zoo. We packed up a lunch and took it with us. We had so much fun. This is our favorite zoo. Jack was pretending to be a monkey for a week now so we had to take him back to see all of his friends! He fits right in!

Mother's Day

I hope all of you mommies out there had a great Mother's Day. I know I am a little late with the post but look what I got!!!! A new Red sox hat with my title printed right there for all to see!!!! How sweet is that? I also got coach bag which is also a mommy favorite! I feel so proud to wear that hat and bear the title. Steve made it a point to see me on Mother's day too which was so sweet because he was only home for a few hours before he had to get back on base. I am so lucky to have him. Also on Mother's Day 3 years ago I found out I was pregnant with Jack. How funny is that???

I kept meaning to post this picture, but we have been so busy lately it seems. Our little family and all of Steve's brother and sisters got together to get the moms a family photo for Mother's Day. We did each little couple or family and then a few group photos. The end results came out great. We actually like most of them. Poor Jack broke out in a rash just before we had to get the pictures taken. Also Steve always makes this weird face whenever someone tells him to smile, poor Steve too. That is why we love you Babes you make it interesting.

Science Museum

Friday we went to the Science Museum to check out the dinosaurs and everything else science related. Jack loved the dinosaurs, he actually took a mini one home. Jack loved to be able to interact with all the little gadgets everywhere, Steve did too. The two of them pushed every button in the place! I think Jack was ready to take up residents in the space shuttle up there.

Pancakes anyone?

We decide to make breakfast a little interesting friday morning and made German pancakes instead of traditional pancakes. We found a mix and added our own little apple, cinnamon, sugar, nutmeg mixture and baked it. Delicious!!! A new favorite of ours!!!!!

Blue Hills

So on one of the many beautiful days we have been having lately we decided to go Blue Hills to hike for a bit. We didn't actually expect to get all the way to the top with Jack hiking on his own. But he made it all the way to the tower, without being helped at all!!! What a little monkey! He only walked away with his legs banged up a llittle and a nice cut on his arm. Poor little guy. He was proud to say he got his cut from the "mountain".

Random Acts of Fun

Last week I got three days off from work,so Jack and I spent as much time together as we could. Thursday while Momma was at work we decided to go to the playground. This is Jacks favorite place. He loves to drive the car and honk the horn. He is now getting more crazy. He climbs up and down the ladders with no help. Jack almost gave his mother a heart attack Saturday when we went back. We are excited that he is taking more risks to learn what he can and can not do.

Sleepover

This weekend we decided to switch things up and sleep over Daddy's house on friday night. We stayed over so we could cheer him on in the Holyoke St. Patrick's Day Road Race. We all had a blast. Me and Jack met Daddy at his work, where Jack got to check out a C-5 plane. We even got to go into the flight deck. Jack loved "his big plane" . It was a tough job trying to keep Jack from trying to push every button. After work we headed out to dinner and home for the night. The next day we caught some breakfast and headed down to the race. It was a little chilly outside saturday morning, we were all bundled up to cheer on our Daddy. I couldn't believe all of these runners in shorts, they must have been freezing. But we managed to stay warm enough until the end. Daddy did a great job! We are so proud of you!

Easter Highlights

Sorry we are a little late on updating everyone on our Easter. We had such a great day! we woke up to find the Easter bunny had dropped off some candy and a few other fun treats, like a bug collector and some fun books. Then we went to Nina and Pa's for some turkey. Delicious. Then we ventured out to Auntie Brandie's house. After our bellies were stuffed to the max, we went to the North River Reservation for a nice long walk. What a great Easter!! You can see in this picture above Jack has some blue peep breakfast remnants.

New Art

Look at this BEAUTIFUL piece of art! Done by none other than Jack Light (as tastefully marked on the dino's feet). This priceless piece of work, done in less than 30 minutes is currently exhibited as a private viewing in his room. This precious little number definitely classes the place up a bit.

My New "Dada" Dino

Today we took Jack to the Build-a-Bear Workshop. After many selections he finally decided on the Dino. He refers to him as Dada Dino. This Dino even has a baby that Jack calls, well Jack. He had so much fun. The woman at Build-a-Bear even let him push the button to stuff it. Jack had to warm the heart so that he stays warm, then tap it to give it a heartbeat, rub it on his belly so he never goes hungry, held it to his head to make him smart, held it to his ears so he would always hear jacks stories, and finally kiss it for love. We were very impressed that Jack listened to the woman and followed her instructions. He then gave Dino an air bath and bought him a Red Sox shirt(of coarse this Dino is a Red Sox fan). A Dino really fits Jacks personality.Great choice!

We must have a lot of luck with us, these are all lady bugs in Jack's bedroom. They began their stay in the fall and decided to stay through the winter. But boy have they multiplied! We have lady bugs every where, even in the shower. But we don't want to distrupt their stay (except the occasional one Jack picks up to show me and turns out handicap in the end) or our luck with turn bad. So I guess we are stuck with them until it is warm enough to go back outside.

Jacks favorite place to sleep is on the couch with his DAD. I dont get to see him much so I dont mind. I could let him sleep there forever. He always love to watch Max and Ruby right before he goes to bed,but he can never sleep with out Dadda's blankey. He's so cute. I hate leave him during the week, but I treasure every minute with I can with him.

There is no better way to start the day than with an enthusiastic little person that can't wait to see you. Every morning when Jack gets stirring in his little nest of blankets all around, we hear his little voice looking for his favorite people to taking him downstairs with all of his babies is tow. As soon as we open the door we get the best greeting, that instantly takes you mood, no matter how good to even better. As soon as we sit for a minute he looks for the staple items, strawberry milk and a vitamin (which he thinks is candy). Mmm. What a sweetie!

Everyday he runs around saying, "LOOK I'M A SUPER HERO!", and tries to save his babies from falling off his pillows. Saving lives one baby at a time.
